My niece wants to try out for her cross country and/or track team this coming school year. I know it varies but for say seventh and eighth graders, how good of a runner should she be? How can she approach getting better?

How long should I jog for and how often?
I am 16 and I am moderately fit. I would like to start a jogging routine that is as intense as possible. So should I just jog for as long as I possibly can, or set a time and increase it? Also, what is the best warm up/stretch before jogging. Finally, I keep hearing everyone saying that jogging is really bad on your joints, how can I avoid damaging my joints?

Not miles, but minutes. I currently do not jog at all. I know this sounds bad, but the longest i can jog until I am out of breath is 2 minutes. I start getting tired after 7 to 10 minutes.
