What are some good ways to become a better runner?

Recently I have started running. As of now I am walking five minutes and running two for at least thirty minutes a day, but I would like to be able to run a whole 5K by December and run a whole marathon by November of 2011. I need to lose some weight (I am 5’9 and 206 pounds) and motivated to do so. Basically I just need advice on how I can accomplish these things and become a better and more fit runner!

What is a healthy number of carbs to eat a day for a 14 year old girl who wants to lose wait?

Ok so I’m a little embarresed. I’m 14 and weigh 185 which I know is really unhealthy. this is what I’ve decided to do so far…
1. Eat only when stomach grouwls, with small servings
2. Excercise everyday. Jogging, push-ups, and sit-ups
3. Drink only vitaimin water and water during the day and diet-pepsi at dinner.

I want to lose as much wait as possible before school starts again

Sometimes I just don’t have the time to jog during the day. If it’s alright, I would like to continue jogging at night, after I get back from college. I’m jogging just to stay fit, nothing excessive.

When I needed to, I would run every other day, which was not bad but, will I injure myself if I start running 2 miles every day on a concrete sidewalk?
